Hammad Rind is a Pakistani-born writer and translator now based in Cardiff. His debut novel in English, Four Dervishes (Seren Books, 2021), was long-listed for the British Science Fiction Association Award. He works across a number of languages, including Welsh, Persian, Urdu, and Turkish. His translation work includes rendering Naveen Kishore’s Knotted Grief into Urdu as Uljha Gham (Zuka Books, 2022), as well as co-translating poetry by Palestinian poet Najwan Darwish into Welsh. He is currently doing a PhD in Welsh at Bangor University, researching the elegiac traditions of Welsh marwnad and Persian/Urdu marsiya.
