Last night, I had a dream
The kitchen sink was overflowing with soap
                                            and leftover food
Leaning forward, I turned the faucet away from me
There was blood on the plates from my cuticles
The decaying penne had a face with no teeth
I thought of dicing some onions and leave all be

The gas burn makes me flinch twice
I cut myself a little in brief intervals
and the third time, I trip over a potato peel
And hit my head on the sink

Overflowing with soap
          and leftover food
A darker shade of grief red now
You were there too with your sweet tooth
Like some feral animal
Your skin taut with desire
And a hanging lump for a face
Teeth where language
                              should have been
Hot mass of leg bone where I wanted
                              to be your marrow

You a vulgar thing for me
Sweetened by love
