Iman Ahmed

Iman Ahmed is a multidisciplinary artist, writer and educator. She graduated with distinction from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and has participated in several national exhibitions including Ecologies of Being at the Reservoir Art Gallery Lahore, Karachi Biennale’s Aaj aur Kal, and VM Gallery’s Plasticity, among others.

Born in Karachi, she continues to base her practice there, drawing inspiration from the city’s gendered household spaces and its textile heirlooms. Her research interests focus on the history of drawing rooms in contemporary South Asia and the floral aesthetics that define these postcolonial domestic spaces, in relation to contemporary movements of patterns, heirlooms and gardens across time, space and ownership.
